A Repost

A person’s success should not be based on the school where he/she graduated (college).

During gradeschool to highschool, our teachers would always tell us to study hard, focus on our lessons and aim to land on a prestigious university or college.

I believed them.

After highschool, I only tried my luck in 3 universities – F.E.U, ADMU, and UP. I didn’t pass the UPCAT, hehe, and my parents realized that they may not be able to finance my studies at ADMU. Walang problema sa FEU, some of my aunts were from that school.

In 2004, I failed a major subject – MICROBIOLOGY AND PARASITOLOGY, due to unorganized priorities, I guess.

I had to transfer to another school. Nag try ako ng Beda and CHS, they don’t entertain transferees daw. May nakapagbulong sa mama ko ng De Los Santos – STI, they accept transferees, with or without failed subjects. So naisip ko, okay, baka pwede ng pumetix! Haha.

But boy, I was wrong. Sa Delo naisaksak sa kukote ko na: NURSING SHOULD BE A ZERO MISTAKE PROFESSION, ONE WRONG MOVE AND YOUR PATIENT IS DEAD! Scary di ba?! Ayos sa motivation.

After the Nurse Licensure Examination and it’s alleged leakage, I was immediately hired by Etelecare Global Solutions (now STREAM).

I underwent series of trainings, and there, I met some friends and enemies.

May mga kasabayan akong galing JRU, UP LOS BANOS, UP DILIMAN, UST and DLSU – MANILA, some didn’t make it.

During FST (Foundation Skills Training), may mga kasama kaming MD, Psychologists, Teachers, ECEs, and some Nurses.

I remember one time, may nurse sa training na ang in house review center nila ay gaya ng sa amin. Buong pagpapakumbaba akong lumapit at nagtanong:

karen: hi, chuva! you also reviewed with east west?

chuva: from what school are you?

ST.PAUL’S COLLEGE MANILA. sabay talikod.

karen: ah, chuva, did you pass?

chuva: hindi kasi wala nga akong natutunan.

karen: ah talaga, oh well, I PASSED!!!

roxanne: phil heart center

tine: national kidney and transplant institute

exner: dep ed public health nurse

mira: glaxosmithe

peter sanchez: dls sti clinical instructor

at,
